Presentation by Cherie Kamenz, Annual Giving Coordinator, Canadian Cancer Society.

Cherie Kamenz is the Annual Giving Coordinator at the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) for North Vancouver Island. She is based out of the Courtenay CCS branch office. She’s been with CCS for 14 months and her duties include coordinating Relay For Life in the Comox Valley and Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock for the North Island. Cherie is looking forward to speaking to the Comox Rotary about Relay For Life and the impact funds raised at this event are used to help people affected by all cancers both locally and across Canada for research, programs and services, advocacy, and cancer prevention awareness. Relay For Life in the Comox Valley takes place Saturday, June 9 – Sunday, June 10 from 6 pm – 6 am at the Comox Valley Sports Centre Track.

Nearly 1 in 2 Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. That means half of our family and friends will hear the words “you have cancer” at some point in their lives.

At the Canadian Cancer Society, we undertake our fundraising activities for one reason and one reason only – to raise critical funds to fulfill our mission of eradicating cancer and improving the quality of life for people with cancer and their families.
